[NB: This page is a facsimile version of an unpublished catalogue compiled by C. H. Hitchcock (Curator, 11 August 1859 - 2 January 1864), which he placed in theHitchcock footprint collection on February 2nd, 1859. We believe that this document was influential in guiding many subsequent workers. Unfortunately, many of the entries do not follow the Code of Systematic Nomenclature (any version) and most type specimens in this list are incorrectly identified. This document is probably the basis for most of the identifications of type specimens in Lull's seminal works (1904, 1915, 1953). This facsimile was rendered by E. C. Rainforth & P. E. Olsen, June 21, 2000.]

A Synopsis of the Genera and Species of the Lithichnozoa
in the Hitchcock Ichnological Museum of Amherst College.
Each specimen may be found by the fractional number placed
against it: the numerator represents the case, wall, or table
containing it, and the denominator the specimen itself.
Type specimens are indicated by an exclamation point.
