On the ship:

Gerardo Iturrino has worked on projects involving the Middle Valley of the northern Juan de Fuca Ridge, the TAG hydrothermal area, and the Manus Basin. He has extensive at-sea experience, including participating in ODP Legs 118, 140, 147, 158, 169, and 176, site survey cruises and an Alvin dive series. He received a B.S. and M.S. in Geophysics from Purdue University and a Ph.D. in Marine Geophysics from University of Miami in 1995. He has been working with the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO) Borehole Research Group since 1996 on structural analyses of shallow crustal exposures using core and downhole measurements, constraining the size and conductive heat output of hydrothermal systems using permeability and thermal conductivity measurements, and measuring elastic properties of crustal and upper mantle environments.

Anne Bartetzko is from the University of Aachen in Germany. She has previously sailed on an ODP cruise to Hole 395A in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.
Kerry Swain is the Schlumberger Engineer.

He is currently teaching high school geology at Fox Lane High School in Bedford, NY. He has received NSF funds for participant in oceanographic research aboard Atlantis II and Alvin on the Cascadia Margin. He has also received the NAGT Outstanding Earth Science Teacher in New York State in 1992 and was a Presidential Award for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching (PAESMT) finalist in 1990.

Mary Reagan is a geophysicist with expertise in project management and website development. She received a B.A. from Wheaton College and a M.S. in Geophysics from Purdue University in 1987. She worked on bathymetric data for the Defense Mapping Agency before joining the staff at Joint Oceanographic Institutions (JOI) in 1990 as a Programs Associate. While at JOI, she designed the Distinguished Lecturer Series and coordinated the publication of the Cenozoic Glaciation manual. She also served as a producer for the Mountains to Monsoons educational CD. In 1995, she joined the staff at the Borehole Research Group (BRG) at LDEO as Program Manager, and now holds the title of Deputy Director of Operations for BRG.
