Where did you grow up?
Bangladesh.

What is your favorite food?
Fish, and Steak.

What’s your favorite movie?
(English) Shawshank Redemption, Philadelphia, Road to Perdition, and Blood Diamond.

What’s your favorite book?
Autobiographical books, books that depict cultural and social reflection of life, and war books.

What’s your favorite music?
Multicultural Rock, Pop, Jazz, and Classical music.

What’s your favorite part of your job?
Solving problems.

What are your responsibilities in the Borehole Research Group?
Currently in IT division.

What’s it like to be out at sea for two months?
Sometimes exciting, and sometimes relaxing.

Did you think this is what you’d be doing one day when you grew up?
I probably thought of doing science related work.

How did you become interested in your field?
Friend’s older brother worked in a Saudi Oil company talked about this branch of science.

If you weren’t doing this, what job would you want?
Probably, business or social work.

What’s it like trying to get science done at sea?
Quite exciting, in particular, interacting with people of different branches and seeing their approach of analysis and their results.

Where did you go to school?
Dhaka Univ, Bangladesh, Univ of New Orleans, and Univ of KS.

What were your favorite and least favorite subjects in school?
Favorite – Math, computing; least fav - English.

When did you first begin thinking about being a scientist/engineer/other?
Probably, when I was very young.

Did you ever seriously consider another career?
Soccer or cricket player.

What do you do in a typical day at sea? In the office?
At sea, watching drilling and logging operations, processing data, emailing, eating, running, chatting. In the office – work, meeting, etc.

What skills or personality traits are important for someone working in your field?
Eagerness to learn.
