The
high resolution depth counter (HRDC) is a modular, rack-mounted
panel developed to improve the standard depth measurement
capability offered by conventional shipboard and truck
mounted logging winches. The HRDC became a nessessity
as third party logging tools with improved measurement
resolution became available. The system was designed
and manufactured in-house and is currently installed
in the shipboard data acquisition system. The HRDC presently
interfaces with an industrial PC though a serial connection
and its operation is virtually transparent to the operator.
The HRDC is available to all other third party logging
tools. ASCII data files can be generated with depth vs
time as output or streaming data can be provided as well.
