Take-home lessons from the
Academic/Career Recognitions & Rewards Workshop
at the DLESE Leadership Conference

• Establish an Editorial Board of eminent scientists and education specialists.
• Write and disseminate an "Information to Contributors" document describing DLESE’s selection criteria and review procedures.
• Begin to educate the supervisory/administrative community by presenting the DLESE vision, including the Reviewed Collection, at such forums as the Geoscience Heads and Chairs meeting.

• DLESE should automatically track the usage of individual resources, including how many users, how many accesses, and type of users, and provide a regular report on usage to the resource creator. This "electronic citation index" should be in an easy-to-understand, distinguished-looking format, suitable for inclusion in a tenure portfolio or other employee-review file.
• When a resource is admitted to the Reviewed Collection, the creator/contributor may designate individuals or organizations to receive a formal notification (including a description of DLESE and the review procedure). Example recipients might be a supervisor, department chair, principal, or local newspaper.
• DLESE should develop and publicize a "Best of DLESE Award." Inputs to the award selection could include usage statistics, the reviews from the web-mediated community review procedure, and the judgement of the Editorial Board.
