Subject: Meeting and workshop at LDEO Date: Thu, 15 Sep 2005 10:06:46 -0400 From: "Charles Scharnberger" To: , , , , "Charles Scharnberger" , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , Cc: , Good morning, Some of you I know personally, but many others I do not, so let me introduce myself. My name is Charles Scharnberger. I am professor emeritus of Earth Sciences at Millersville University (PA) and operator of Lamont Cooperative Seismic Network station MVL. Won-Young Kim and I have been talking for some time about the desirability of the LCSN operators, and other regional operators or interested parties, getting together from time to time for a meeting and/or workshop. We also have discussed the idea of forming an advisory committee for the LCSN. The purpose of this communication is to see how many of you would be interested in doing this. And when would be the most convenient time? Two dates that Kim and I have discussed are Saturday, Oct. 22 and Saturday, Oct. 29, at LDEO. But perhaps this is too short notice. Please respond with answers to the following questions: * Are you interested in participating in periodic meetings or workshops of station operators in the mid-Atlantic region? * Would either of the two dates mentioned above work for you? If not, when would be a better time? Are Saturdays the best days? * What topics would you like to have covered in a workshop? This could be software training, troubleshooting, networking, basic seismology, or whatever is of interest to the group. Thank you.
