Subject: Operators' meeting Date: Thu, 6 Oct 2005 15:13:55 -0400 From: "Charles Scharnberger" To: , , , "Charles Scharnberger" , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , Cc: , Thank you to all who responded to my message about the possibility of an LCSN operators' meeting at Lamont this fall. About half of those who responded could make a meeting in October, but the other half preferred a later date. So we have decided to defer the meeting until November. The date we are now looking at is Saturday, November 19. We are thinking of starting at 11:00 a.m., in order to allow drive time for those coming from some distance. We should be finished by 4:30. The tentative agenda at this point looks something like this (definitely subject to change): 11:00 - 11:15 Arrival and introductions 11:15 - 12:15 Discussion of the LCSN operation, problems, future directions, etc. 12:15 - 01:00 Lunch 01:00 - 02:00 Continuation of morning discussion, including the composition and role of an LCSN Advisory Committee 02:00 - 02:30 Demonstration of software that simulates pen-written seismograms 02:30 - 02:45 Break 02:45 - 04:30 Workshop on Earthworm software Please respond to let us know if you plan to attend. Your colleagues and grad students also are welcome. Closer to the date, we will send specific directions on how to get to Lamont, where to park, etc., to meeting participants. With best wishes, Charles
