LDEO Housing

Description

Presently, there are six guest rooms on the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO) grounds. The guest rooms are to accommodate visitors to LDEO for short duration stays of three months or less. We discourage visitors who have children from staying in the guest rooms since several of them are in close proximity to office space.

There are four guest rooms in Lamont Hall. All are single occupancy. Two of these rooms share a bathroom; the other rooms have their own baths – one with a shower only and one with a bathtub/shower combination. There is a central kitchen area that is shared by all the rooms. The kitchen has a refrigerator, sink, microwave oven, and basic kitchen equipment. For safety reasons, the kitchen does not have an open flame stove. Some of the rooms have a small utility refrigerator/microwave unit for convenience. There are two large, full bed, double occupancy rooms in the Café Annex. These rooms have their own bathrooms and share a complete kitchen (with stove) between them.

There are telephones and cable television in all the rooms for the convenience of the guests. All the above rooms are cleaned and have linens changed twice a week. The communal kitchen is cleaned on a weekly basis. All expenses with the exception of telephone use are included in the rental fee. There is a coin operated washer and dryer located in the basement of Lamont Hall for use by guests.

All reservations must be made through the Housing Office. Reservations for guests must be made by a Lamont employee. Dates of stay, name of guest, and an account number are needed to complete a reservation. At least twenty-four hour notice is requested for any cancellations. It is at the discretion of the Housing Office to charge fees for any late cancellations.

Guests should be made aware of methods of payment before their arrival so they are not caught unaware. We accept cash, personal checks (U.S. banks only), travelers’ checks, MasterCard, Visa, and American Express. We will also bill charges directly to a LDEO account. We do not bill individuals or organizations.

Rules

• Check-in time is 3:00 pm
• Check-out time is 11:00 am
• No smoking allowed
• No cooking allowed in rooms (except those with small microwave units)
• No pets
• Only the number of guests the reservation was made for are allowed to stay in room

Failure to comply with any of the above rules will be grounds for asking a guest to vacate their accommodations.

• Linens are changed on Tuesdays and Fridays. All personal items must be removed from beds or beds will not be made up.
• Food left in the refrigerator should be clearly labeled with room number, date, and name. Failure to do so could mean that your food will be disposed of when refrigerator is cleaned.
• Please dispose of all food items in room and kitchen when you depart.
