The apartments are small but nice. They are located in South Nyack on Piermont Avenue (one block east of Broadway along the Hudson River—sorry no river view!). The complex consists of two older brick buildings with six apartments in each one. There are a total of 8 two-bedroom apartments and 4 one-bedroom apartments. The two bedroom apartments have an eat-in kitchen (no dining room), living room, full bath, one bedroom with a double bed and one bedroom with two single beds. The one-bedroom apartments have an eat-in kitchen (no dining room), living room, full bath and one bedroom with two single beds. The rooms in the apartments are small. All apartments are completely furnished including kitchen utensils such as dishes, pots, silverware, etc. and both bed and bath linens. The apartments are not air-conditioned. There is a coin operated washing machine and dryer in each building.
The complex is located in one of the nicest areas of Rockland County. It is in walking distance of all the great stores downtown Nyack has to offer. The school district is Nyack, which has a high rating. The apartments are one block off the bus route needed to get to Lamont and New York City. There are some garages available; not one for every apartment so they are issued on a first-come, first-serve basis at the discretion of Columbia University Real Estate.
The apartments are owned and run by Columbia University Real Estate and, as such, are managed as commercial real estate. There is a one-year lease with an option to renew (at discretion of CUIRE and Lamont). The lease may be broken with no penalty as long as appropriate advance notice is given. Shorter-term stays can also be arranged. At the time of signing the lease, the tenant will be asked for one month’s rent and one month’s rent as security which will be returned at the end of tenant’s stay. Utilities are not included in the rent and must be turned on upon arrival by the tenant.
Once your application and lease have been processed by Columbia University Real Estate you will need to contact their management company Smith Properties at (845)353-6835 to set up an appointment to sign the lease. Smith Properties will also be able to give you the contact information to turn on your utilities.
