Who May Submit a Proposal
Guidelines
It is the policy of the University that the principal investigator of a sponsored project be an officer of instruction with a full-time appointment in the rank of professor, associate professor or assistant professor. The Provost has authorized certain general exceptions for LDEO. Senior research scientists and research scientists may serve as sole investigators.
Post-Doctoral Research Scientist (PDRS)
As of March 1996, can be sole P. I. if they get signed approval from the Director.
Post-Doctoral Fellows
same as PDRS
Exceptions
The following exceptions are made for Co-PI status only:
Senior Staff Associate/Staff Associate
3rd Summer Post-Oral Graduate Student
Must have a firm commitment that an appointment to Post-Doctoral Research Scientist is anticipated prior to the start date of the project and only if a member of the faculty or senior staff is the PI
Visiting/Adjunct Appointments
A person holding this appointment must have an eligible LDEO scientist on the proposal as the PI
