Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the LDEO buildings and grounds. Oversees all phases of renovation planning and implementation. Provides budget forecasts and management for all construction accounts as well as Facilities operating accounts.

Responsible for the day to day operations and completion of work requests. Supervises mechanics, coordinates with staff, orders materials and equipment, and assists Manager of Facilities in ongoing projects. Assumes complete responsibility in the absence of the Manager of Facilities.

Provides secretarial and bookkeeping for all aspects of Facilities. Answers phones, records work requests, maintains records, reconciles accounts and prepares and enters invoices for tape transmittal to FAS.

Primarily responsible for renovations of laboratory and office spaces, including the installation of wall panels, flooring, cabinetry, suspended ceiling, windows and doors, etc. Also qualified roofing and sheet metal mechanic.

Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all department vehicles and equipment. Does all cutting (gas torch) and welding for department. Assists in many grounds related functions.

Assigned to the 4:00 pm to midnight shift. Performs routine maintenance and repairs, primarily responsible for HVAC repairs and service. Certified refrigerant mechanic. Responds to emergencies during his shift.

Assists in the construction of all laboratory and office furniture. Sands and applies finishes to all furniture produced in the carpentry shop. Also paints various laboratory and office spaces.

Charles Henry Jones

Responsible for the construction of all furniture, such as bookcases, computer tables, laboratory and office cabinets, bulletin boards, counter tops and various other carpentry requests. Meets with staff to provide cost and time estimates. Fabricates furniture as per request.

Responsible for all electrical and plumbing repairs and new installations. Assists with laboratory and office painting, installation of energy efficient lighting systems, and equipment repairs. Also services air-conditioning and heating equipment. Assists in grounds keeping, specifically tree trimming and removal.
