Spatial ability and verbal ability are not well correlated. There are individuals who are low-spatial but high-verbal, and other individuals who are high-spatial but low-verbal.

Implication: You may encounter students who are accustomed to doing well on school tasks, which are mostly verbal in nature, but struggle mightily on spatially-demanding assignments. Conversely, you may find individuals who usually do poorly on traditional assignments but excel on map and spatial assignments.
