Weekly Tea

Meet at 4pm in the Geoscience conference room to share tea, snacks, treats and company with your fellow graduate students. Teas are student run, and take place only while classes are in session. Come to the first tea of the semester and volunteer to host one. Signed up to host already and need instructions?

TGIF

Unwind after a long week at 4:30pm (or when the Colloquim talk ends) in the lounge of Monell with Lamont, IRI and DEES colleagues. TGIF is funded by those who attend, so bring your $2 for beer. Orange snacks are free of charge.

Chili Cook-Off

Every fall, compete against your fellow scientists to make the best meaty or veggie chili. Not a chef? No problem- come sample the chili to vote for your favorite, and enjoy the other snacks, desserts and beer.

Lamont Ball

This bi-annual event brings Lamonters out in their finest for a classy evening of wining and dining, dancing, and general merriment.

Movie Night

Watch earth science related disaster movies with other students who understand why its funny when the say "Our gridded models are useless." Movies are shown once or twice a semester on a big screen accompanied by pizza, beer and soda.

Fireside Chats

Local Lamont legends talk candidly with graduate students in an informal question and answer type setting. Previous guests include Wally Broeker, Marie Tharp and Nano Seeber. These events happen once or twice a semester.

Student Veggie Garden

Get your hands dirty and your vegetable drawer full. Every spring, students (and anyone else interested) plant and care for a garden near the New Core Lab. Gardeners share the planting, weeding picking chores, as well as the yummy end results. There has even been an end of summer garden party. Contact: Miriam Jones.

Summer Picnic

This midsummer afternoon break includes a traditional pig roast, as well as chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, and veggie burgers. Come sit out by Lamont hall, enjoy the weather and some tasty picnic fare.
