<> LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR
It is said that the size of the brain
in an average trout is less than that of a small pea. Nevertheless
they seem very capable of outwitting my every attempt to deceive
them into believing that a barbed hook covered in finely colored
adornments is a juicy meal. Not that I have not met with SOME
success - I have, I have indeed - but nothing commensurate
with the intellectual and physical effort that has been expended!
I am somewhere north west of Lake Placid,
where the air is very very good, and the silence is complete,
and the night skies tempt one into astronomy - testing my
intellect against that of ....... fish!
And I am glad that all seems quiet back
home and overjoyed that EWING was finally able to sail from
Bergen Norway today.
I will be back in the office late next
week - the Jardetzky lecture is next Friday - Alan Levander
from Rice University - in the Monell Auditorium at 3:00pm
and there will be a reception afterwards.
Have a great long weekend,
– Mike
