<>RECENT B&G PROJECTS


Room 201 Core Lab - New furniture delivered. Job complete.

Room 203 Core Lab - Fume hood blower and new shelving installed. Job
complete.

Borehole Project - Renovation of Guest Houses 7 & 8 - Houses complete
and BRG Personnel being moved in by the Traffic Department.

Guest Houst 6 - Painting complete. Carpet to be installed Monday,
July 10th.

Rooms 106-109 Seismology - Roughed in electric. Chopped out concrete
floor for electric/phone/data lines to conference room and Reception
Island. Waiting for phone/data installation P.O. Windows delivered
and will be installed the week of 7/10. HVAC system ordered. Doors
ordered. Light fixtures ordered.

Room 104 Geoscience - Round table and two small bookcases built
complete the job.

Miscellaneous -
Replaced main water line to TRL.
Installed new a/c in 201A Oceanography.
Installed new a/c in Administration copy center.
Replaced seismology generator diesel tank with double-walled unit.


<>LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR

I spent a large part of the week on the ocean in a small boat (small
in this context is 32 feet) and rediscovered why I got into the ocean
sciences profession in the first place. There is no greater therapy
(for me anyway) than being on the ocean out of sight of land.

So there is nothing of substance to report - Lamont, not
surprisingly, functioned perfectly well while I was away - thanks to
the dedication of all the folks who keep the wheels turning.

I hope your July 4th was as spectacular as mine.
