Urgun Nars

Trees growing at the forest- grassland ecotone are limited by precipitation. Their annual ring widths generally reflect annual precipitation.

The tree pictured is scotch pine [Pinus sylvestris L. {known as Scots pine in Europe}]. It is distributed across the Eurasian continent from western Europe to China. In North America it is a common landscaping and christmas tree. It was also widely planted in the U.S. during the 1930s under the Roosevelt administration as a part of the Civil Conservation Corp [CCC].
