In Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
from Sunday 23-rd Saturday 30-th July 2000
The fieldweek
is a work week in applied tree-ring research. It is designed
to give the beginners in the discipline an introduction to basic
principles and methodology, to train in dendrochronological
techniques, including field sampling, processing, data analysis,
climatic reconstructions and more ecological questions.
The overall
format for the fieldweek will be to
split up into 2 groups that investigate different climatological
and
ecological questions using tree-ring
data as a starting point. After introduction, each
group will spend 2-3 days in the
field gathering samples
and data to answer specific questions. The rest of the time
will be spent by analysing the data
and preparing the presentation of
the results. At the end of the week we will have an informal poster presentation
where
each group will present the results
of the work to other fieldweek participants and guests. The organisers
will also make presentation and lecture during evening meetings.
Students from National
University of Mongolia, Mongolian Technical University and
other participants from Institute
of Botany, Institute of GeoEcology.
Dendrochronology, Dendroclimatology, Dendroecology
Application: Number of participants is limited to 12 people. Please send your application only if you really intend to participate the fieldweek. We need your application not later than June 1-st 2000.
