GEOTRACES

Data Management

The GEOTRACES Scientific Steering Committee is currently seeking resources to establish an International Data Management Centre, likely to be co-located with a major oceanographic data centre somewhere in Europe. Once established, a link to the data centre will be posted here along with additional information concerning the protocols for submission of GEOTRACES data.

A first step towards establishing a GEOTRACES Data Management Centre was taken by a group of experts who developed a proposal for data management in GEOTRACES. Subsequently, GEOTRACES established a standing committee on Data Management, co-chaired by Drs. Reiner Schlitzer of the Alfred Wegener Institute (Reiner.Schlitzer at awi.de) and Chris Measures (chrism at soest.hawaii.edu) of the University of Hawaii.  That committee is developing more specific recommendations for data management, to be implemented once the data centre is established.
