To what extent do the science education standards of the 49 states require or encourage K-12 teachers to teach about human impacts on the environment and/or environmental impacts on human society? This project included a review of the state science education standards for mainstream science courses in each state with adopted standards (specialized high school courses were not included in the assessment).  Standards were reviewed for content acknowledging human impacts on the environment, environmental impacts on humans, and individual behavior that could impact the environment.
