linebreak

My research is aimed at understanding the lithospheric system, from crustal structures down to the transition to the asthenosphere, from plate boundaries to continental interiors to ocean basins, and from present day to ancient processes.  Since coming to Lamont, I have largely focused on the incipient plate boundary in the southernmost portion of the East African Rift Valley.  I am also involved in interdisciplinary projects based on volcanic and extensional lithospheric structures in the western U.S., as well as a synoptic overview of Appalachian structures and history in the southeastern U.S.  These projects build on my PhD research, which characterized lithospheric structures across the contiguous U.S. using scattered and converted wave imaging
