Take a tour of the R/V Marcus G. Langseth, the nation's premier seismic academic research ship, operated by Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory. The Langseth is equipped to capture data for building 2D and 3D maps of earth's structure's miles beneath the sea floor.  Utilizing the vessel's other capabilities, expeditions have also collected sediment cores for understanding climate variations throughout the Earth’s history, sampled seawater for determining physical and chemical properties of the oceans, and deployed remotely operated vehicles for studying submarine volcanoes.
