"The Earth 2 class on Saturday was most
informative and enjoyable. Andy and Ajit presented fascinating
information in a straightforward and interesting way. I found it
helpful to be reminded that each ecosystem has the same basic
structure, and Andy’s demonstration of the similarities among
ecosystems was clearly demonstrated by his carefully selected
photographs[...] The diagrams of the food web were also clear and
concise. By relating the phytoplankton to the grass, shrubs and trees,
and the zooplankton to the herbivores, I was able to transfer my
knowledge of the systems on dry land to the ocean systems. A
parallel I found fascinating was the one that Andy drew between excess
nutrients added to the sea causing toxic phytoplankton, and fertilizing
one’s garden and the resulting weeds. The results are not always the
ones we plan or hope for!" Bronagh Coakley - Teachers College, Columbia

"More importantly, they and others who
use the archived version of your talk and online resources you helped
us develop for our Earth2Class website at
http://www.earth2class.org/k12/w3_f2005/w3_f2005.php,
are disseminating your research much more widely than could be done by
direct methods. Since we averaged 25 participants, and as each has
about 100 students, this means that more than 2,500 students may learn
about your investigations! To that, we can add those who utilize what
is available through
www.earth2class.org."
