This is Andreas Thurnherr's LADCP processing site. It is very much in alpha state.
In order to avoid having to use any RDI software, I implemented a portable data acquisition system based entirely on popular public-domain tools. Data acquisiton is controlled by a set of expect scripts, which use a perl-based program (called bbabble) to communicate with one or two RDI ADCPs. Download now.
As an alternative to the older shear method, Martin Visbeck implemented an inversion-based processing package, which are used by numerous groups around the world. In summer 2004 I took his latest version (8b) and re-wrote the user interface in order to make it more transparent. Because this version has not been made it back into the official source tree, I call it version IX. Download now.
The main versions of the LDEO processing software that are in use at the moment appear to be various sub-versions of version 7, as well as versions 8a and 8b. Several colleagues have recently reported significant differences in the final velocity profiles processed with versions 7 and 8b; therefore, I have begun looking at reasons for these differences. While we have not yet determined which (if any) of the versions produces better solutions, I have documented all changes to the sources implemented between versions 7b and 8a and between versions 8a and 8b. Several of the latter, in particular, have the potential for significantly changing the solutions.
