Bulya

Dear friends and family,
As all of you know, Bulya was an important part of our lives and an integral part of our family. That’s why we wanted to let you know that this past Thursday we had to make the hard decision of putting Bulya to sleep.
Bulya had been recovering well from a spinal cord injury he suffered last summer. After initially losing all use of his hind legs, he had recovered to the point that he could stand up by himself and take two or three steps unaided. Bulya’s zest for life was intact. He showed no signs of discomfort. He enjoyed taking long walks in his wheelchair and terrorizing squirrels in the park. He had become very fond of our infant son Vladislav, licking his hands and feet, and barking when strangers came too close to his crib. We were hopeful that he would start walking soon.
Last week, though, Bulya
apparently herniated another disk, this time in his neck. Over the course of a
week his quality of life deteriorated, and by Thursday it was apparent that he
would soon lose the use of his front legs. So we said goodbye to our faithful
troublemaker and with great sadness had him put to sleep. On Saturday, we
buried him in a sunny spot at Dave’s father’s house in
Since we love Bulya so much, we thought it was important to let you know about his death and our loss.
