I use active-source seismology together with other geophysical and geological data to investigate deformation and magmatism at plate boundaries, including continental rifts and rifted margins, subduction zones, and transform boundaries.

Some current and upcoming research projects:

Alaska subduction zone

  1. BulletALEUT - Marine seismic imaging of the Alaska subduction zone

  2. BulletAlaska Amphibious Community Seismic Experiment - Onshore/offshore passive seismic study of Alaska subduction zone

East African Rift

  1. BulletSEGMeNT - Multidisciplinary, multinational study of rifting and magmatism in the southern part of the East Africa rift

Atlantic rift basins and rifted margins

  1. BulletSUGAR - Onshore seismic refraction study of the South Georgia rift basin

  2. BulletGalicia 3D - 3D marine seismic reflection imaging of the rifted margin off Galicia (link to blog about research cruise)

  3. BulletEastern North American Margin Community Seismic Experiment - Onshore/offshore, active/passive seismic study of the formation and evolution of the mid-Atlantic continental margin

Corinth Rift

  1. BulletIODP Expedition 381 - IODP Drilling of the active Corinth Rift

Hawaiian-Emperor Seamount Chain

  1. BulletHawaiian-Emperor Seismic Experiment - Marine seismic imaging of Hawaiian-Emperor Seamount Chain

Marmara Sea transform basin

  1. BulletTAMAM - High-resolution marine seismic imaging of recent tectonic and sedimentary history of Marmara Sea
