On apprend qu'une serie d'attentats prevus sur des vols au depart de Londres a ete dejouee. L'opportunisme dont font preuve immediatement Bush et sa clique est tellement sordide qu'il me ferait presque douter de la realite de la menace. Apres tout, c'est quand-meme des as de scotland yard qui ont vide un chargeur dans un pauvre plombier bresilien qu'ils ont ensuite voulu presenter comme un terroriste. Mais meme exageree, la menace est sans-doute reelle, et on se demande quels sont les objectifs des el-quaedeux. A chaque nouvelle tentative d'attentat contre un avion, le seul resultat concret est la reduction du nombre d'objets avec lesquels on peut voyager. Donc a long terme la menace ultime est qu'on soit forces de voyager en slip. Je ne suis pas sur que ce soit vraiment ce que souhaitent les barbus...
Le plus navrant est que les principales raisons de cette situation, en dehors de l'incompetence de l'administration Bush et des tares religieux de toutes sortes, n'ont pas a etre cherchees plus loin que ces deux emblemes - une plateforme d'exploration petroliere que nous avons croise hier et une canette de coca en arabe sortie droit du frigo - la faiblesse ultime et la force arrogante de l'amerique flottant betement a la merci des moussons...
We learned today that a series of terror attacks on flights from the UK was averted. The sickening speed at wich dubya and his cronies have tried to use it to their advantage is only proof to the extent of their current dispair, but it would almost make me question the reality of the threat. After all, it was Scotland Yard aces who shot a full load of bullets at an innocent brasilian plumber and then pretended he was a terrorist. But, even exagerated, the threat is likely real. And one wonders what is the actual goal of the al-quaedous. For every new attack, the only actual consequence is a reduction in the number of items one can bring onboard a plane. So ultimately, we will all end up traveling in our underwear. Which doesn't seem to be what the bearded ones would really be after...
The saddest part is that the most basic reasons for this madness, without mentionning the circumstential incompetence of the bush administration or the religious zealots on each side, are nothing more than these two symbols - an oil exploration rig that we saw yesterday, and an arabic coke can out of the fridge - the ultimate weakness and the arrogant strength of the US floating in the monsoons...
