So long
From outer space, the Earth is blue
Our ocean teems with life.
We primates hunt the waters, too
With trawl and line and knife.
One study tracked, in the Pacific
Tunas, sharks, and whales
The distances they swim: terriffic ...
So are their market sales.
In 50 years, the catch has been
50 million tons,
(that's seven hundred million men)
And still the tally runs.
Someday, I hope we'll see it's wrong,
Perhaps a naive wish.
The list of reasons to slow down: so long,
... and thanks for all the fish.
