Lab: Hand entry of data logs

General Problem: Characterizing errors found in data sets.

Lab instructions:

  1. Familiarize yourself with the handout that shows the results of a few standard measurements performed on the ion chromatograph.
  2. Download the Excel template from the class website and enter the numbers for the standards. Just do a first cut at data-entry. Don't go back and check your work.
  3. Compare sheet to your neighbors (exchange files?). Count the number of errors you find.
  4. Save the file as XY_IC.xls,  'XY' being  your  initials.
  5. (Determine the concentrations of the standards and plot peak area versus concentrations for one anion. )
  6. (Add a linear trendline to the data and note the equation.)
