Objectives, Intro

After finishing the intro section you should know how to do the following

Excel

install StatPlus files and/or use files on CD Rom without installing it
start Excel and recognize elements of Excel workspace
work with Excel workbooks, worksheets and chart sheets
scroll through the worksheet window
work with Excel cell references
print a worksheet
save a workbook
install and remove Excel Add-ins
work with Excel add-ins
learn about basic features of StatPlus
enter data into Excel from the keyboard
change the data format
work with Excel formulas and functions
work with cell references and range names
query and sort data using the AutoFilter and Advanced Filter
import data from text files and databases
make column/bar and pie charts

Basic computer skills

navigate windows and windows desktop
transfer files using FTP
download data files from the Web and change the format
know how to obtain info from the website

Data analysis

perform unit conversions in a formal way (in your sleep)
present numbers in proper scientific notation and number of significant digits
do back of envelop calculations
perform basic manipulations of data
convert a text problem into a conceptual model and an equation
