CMG2004:  25th IUGG Conference on Mathematical Geophysics

CMG2004: Frontiers in Theoretical Earth Sciences

June 16-18 2004
Columbia University
New York, NY

Description:

Every two years, the Committee on Mathematical Geophysics (CMG) of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) brings together earth scientists, physicists, applied mathematicians, and others who seek to develop new ideas for better understanding the processes and properties of the Earth.  The 25th conference in this series will be held June 16-18, 2004 in New York City.  We seek contributions relevant to any aspect of the Earth sciences, at all spatial and temporal scales, ranging from the core and mantle to the surface, oceans and atmosphere.  To help define the frontiers of theoretical earth science, we are especially interested not only in new mathematical methods but also new problems and observations in need of theoretical understanding.

This meeting is sponsored in part by the IUGG, the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory,  and the NSF IGERT  Joint program in Applied Mathematics and Earth & Environtmental Sciences at Columbia.

Meeting Logistics:

The meeting will be held on the campus of  Columbia University in New York City from 16-18 June. Discount housing will be available through Columbia ($55 for a single, $80 double). Additional information on  New York City, Travel and Dining will appear on this web-site shortly.
