APPENDIX A ODP site 663 planktonic d18O (G. ruber), CaCO3, and biogenic opal data (Table A1). Abundances of freshwater diatoms (Melosira spp.) and grass cuticles (phytoliths) were based on counts from microscope slides prepared according to Pokras and Mix [1985]. Dry bulk density (DBD) data were calculated from multiple linear regression coefficients relating CaCO3, opal, and subbottom depth to discrete DBD measurements in hole 663A (Fig. 4).
