COMMANDER ROBERT H. PERRY

USS HAWKBILL (SSN-666)
Commander Robert H. PERRY graduated from the United States Naval Academy in May 1981. Following nuclear power training at Orlando, Florida and Ballston Spa, New York, he reported to USS GURNARD (SSN-662) in San Diego, California and served as Main Propulsion Assistant, Reactor Controls Assistant, and Weapons Officer. While onboard, he completed a Western Pacific deployment and an Arctic Ocean deployment.
Following completion of the Submarine Officer Advanced Course where he received the L. Y. Spear Award as honorman, he reported to USS PROVIDENCE (SSN-719) and served as Combat Systems Officer from July 1986 - October 1988. During his tour, he completed a Mediterranean Sea deployment.
In October 1988, CDR PERRY reported to USS TENNESSEE (SSBN-734) where he served as Engineer Officer. While onboard, TENNESSEE was commissioned, completed the first Trident homeport change to King's Bay, Georgia, Trident II D-5 Production Evaluation Missile testing, the first Trident II D-5 DASO, and made one strategic deterrent patrol. In August 1990, he reported to the staff of the Assistant Chief of Naval Operations (Undersea Warfare (OP-02)) where he served as Head of the Arctic Warfare section in the Attack Submarine Division.
In October 1992, CDR PERRY relieved as Executive Officer, USS NEW YORK CITY (SSN-696), which was homeported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. During this tour he completed a six month Western Pacific deployment and a Selected Restricted Availability. In January 1995, CDR PERRY reported to the Headquarters, Defense Mapping Agency, Fairfax, Virginia, where he served as the Cruise Missile Requirements Officer and Joint Plans Officer until December 1996. During his tour, he earned a Master of Science Degree in Engineering Management from Catholic University.
CDR PERRY assumed command of USS HAWKBILL (SSN-666) in July 1997. CDR PERRY's personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal (five awards) and the Navy Achievement Medal (three awards).
CDR PERRY is married to the former Judith Jones of Severna Park, Maryland. They have three children, Joseph, Matthew, and Jessica.
