Source mechanisms of earthquakes in central Asia are plotted as "beachball"
Focal mechanisms (Centroid Moment Tensor solutions) of large earthquakes in central Asia determined by using digital waveform data recorded at Global Seismic Network (GSN) since 1976. Focal mechanism plots ("beach balls") indicate two possible fault planes as well as orientation of the stress axes. These are the most crucial information regarding the current tectonics of a region.
