External Awards to Lamont Scientists

2015

WALLACE S. BROECKER, Newberry Professor, Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, and Geochemistry Division, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, was awarded Honorary Degrees of Doctor of Science from University of Waterloo, Oxford University, and Harvard University. He was elected a member of the American Philosophical Society.                                                 

 

SUZANNE M. CARBOTTE, Bruce C. Heezen Lamont Research Professor, Marine Geology and Geophysics Division, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, was elected a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union.

 

 

 

DAKE CHEN, Special Research Scientist, Ocean and Climate Physics Division, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, was elected a Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

 

ARNOLD L. GORDON, Professor, Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, and Ocean and Climate Physics Division, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, was elected a Fellow of the Oceanographic Society.  

TERRY A. PLANK, Arthur D. Storke Memorial Professor, Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, and Geochemistry Division, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, was awarded an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science from Dartmouth College.  

MAUREEN E. RAYMO, Lamont Research Professor, Biology and Paleo Environment Division, Director, Core Repository, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, was elected an Honorary Fellow of the Geological Society of London.

 

 

CHRISTOPHER H. SCHOLZ, Professor, Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, and Seismology, Geology and Tectonophysics Division, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, received the Harry Fielding Reid Medal, from the Seismological Society of America.  

CHRISTOPHER SMALL, Lamont Research Professor, Marine Geology and Geophysics Division, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, received the Golden Goose Award from the Association of American Universities.  

ADAM H. SOBEL, Professor, Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, and Ocean and Climate Physics Division, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, received the Louis J. Battan Author’s Award from the American Meteorological Society.  

 

NICOLAS E. YOUNG, Postdoctoral Research Scientist, Geochemistry Division, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, received the Blavatnik Award from the Blavatnik Family Foundation.
