Guidelines
It is the policy of the University that the Principal Investigator (PI) of a sponsored project be an officer of instruction with a full-time appointment in the rank of professor, associate professor or assistant professor. The Provost has authorized certain general exceptions for the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory. Senior research scientists and research scientists may serve as sole investigators. *Must have a firm commitment that an appointment to Post-Doctoral Research Scientist is anticipated prior to the start date of the project and only if a member of the faculty or senior staff is the PI.
