Chapter Eleven

Editor's Note

Fossils found at the crests of mountain ranges, oceanic crust scraped up onto the leading edge of continents, and the massive force of earthquakes all give testimony to the dynamic nature of the earth’s lithosphere.  The dynamic forces shaping the lithosphere are recorded in the structure of the crust of the earth.  The geometry and timing of these structures all give clues to the processes and dynamic history of crustal deformation.
