Lamont Sports:

Soccer:

Lamonters and friends play an informal pickup game of soccer/football on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at noon, weather permitting, open to all. The game usually lasts until 1:15. Currently, we travel by car pool to Tallman State Park while the on-campus field is being reconstructed. We have a sign-up web page to coordinate rides and ensure that we have enough players on any given day. The season runs while the field is not frozen (roughly March to December) and enough people are interested. Rich Iannuzzi maintains an email list to help facilitate player communication. Please feel free to contact him at iannuzzi@ldeo.columbia.edu or at x8839.

Basketball:

Basketball is played on the half-court outside the Rock Mechanics Lab in the Geochemistry building. We generally play M, W and F from 1:30 to 3:00, although the times sometime change and there isn't a game every M, W or F. There are usually enough people for a 3-on-3 game, sometimes we play 4-on-4 and we'll play 2-on-2 if necessary. The person most responsible for gathering the emails of players and potential players and getting games going is Mark Anders.

Volleyball:

Volley-ball is probably the most informal, and the least organized sport at Lamont. Weather and attendance permitting, we try to play on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:00p for about an hour. The net is set somewhere on the lawn between Lamont Hall and the IRI building. The 'regular season' is somewhere between april and september. Emergency situations, such as any sunny friday afternoon when staring at a computer really stinks, can call for extreme measures, such as great games just before TG. The strong correlation between the TG and the volley crowds could be a coincidence, or could be due to the fact that Gilles Guerin is usually the one trying to gather players.
