Installing Digital Certificates in Internet Explorer 5.1 for Macintosh
Preparation
- You may find it easier to refer to these instructions as you go along if you print them before starting the download and install process.
- If you need more guided, comprehensive step-by-step instructions, which include screen images, please print out or view Installing Digital Certificates in IE for Macintosh. To view PDF files, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Install the CREN Root Certificate
Click Download the CREN Root Certificate to start the download process.
- Click View Certificate Authority to display the details of the certificate.
- In the certificate detail window, select both options: I have verified that the Certificate is not a forgery and I trust the Issuer to verify Internet Security and click Accept to accept the new certificate.
- If you have previously established a certificate password in IE, enter it when prompted and click OK. If you have not previously established a certificate password, you can do so now. Leaving the password blank is an allowable option. If you DO set a password, be sure to remember it, as you'll need it to make any changes to your certificates and to access secure Web pages. Click OK.
- Click OK to acknowledge that the certificate has been added successfully.
Verify that the certificate has been added to Internet Explorer by doing the following:
- Select Preferences from the Edit menu.
- Select Security from the items on the left side of the window.
- Click on the Certificate Authorities drop-down list, and scroll through the list of certificates until you see the CREN Root Certificate. It will be listed as Education and Research Client CA CREN/Corp. for Research and Network.
- Click OK to close the Internet Explorer Preferences window.
