Installing Digital Certificates in Netscape 6.2 for Windows
Preparation
- You may find it easier to refer to these instructions as you go along if you print them before starting the download and install process.
- If you need more guided, comprehensive step-by-step instructions, which include screen images, please print out or view Installing Digital Certificates in Netscape 6.2 for Windows. To view PDF files, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Complete both Step 1 and Step 2 to install the two certificates you need.
Step One - Install the CREN Root Certificate
Click Download the CREN Root Certificate to start the download process.
- Select Trust this CA to identify web sites.
- Click OK.
Step Two - Install the Columbia CREN Certificate Authority
Click Download the Columbia CREN Certificate Authority to start the download process.
- Select Trust this Certificate Authority to identify web sites.
- Click OK.
Verify that the certificates have been added to Netscape by doing the following:
- Select Preferences from the Edit menu.
- Double-click on the triangle next to Privacy and Security to expand the item listing and then select Certificates.
- Click on Manage Certificates.
- Click on the Authorities tab and scroll through the list to locate the CREN and the Columbia-CREN-CA certificates. You will see both of them listed under CREN/Corp for Research and Educational Networking, with the names Education and Research Client CA - CREN/Corp for Research and Educational and CREN/Corp for Research and Education Networking.
- Close the Certificate Manager window and then click OK to close the Preferences window.
