SunDial -- Advanced Event Data Entry

1) Open Sundial login and log in -- http://calendar.columbia.edu/sundial/

2) Click the Add Event button

3) From Branding drop down menu select LDEO Brand

4) In Name of Event field enter the Title of the event

5) Click the Start Date/Time Calendar icon and click event date in popup window

6) Enter Start Date/Time and End Date/Time ( be careful when selecting am or pm )

7) Select your timezone from the Timezone Locale drop down menu

8) Enter name of contact for the event in the Name field

9) Enter sponsor or contact's email address in Email Field

10) Enter event location in the Event Location field
      follow form below:
            Columbia University,
            Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory,
            Seismology Building, Seminar Room

11) If there is a link for this event, enter the URL in the Event URL field

12) Enter a brief description of the event, in sentence form, in the Short Description Field
      view sample below:
            The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory Division of Seismology, Geology and Tectonophysics
            presents a seminar, "Is the San Andreas Fault Weak?," with Chris Scholz, (LDEO).

13) First, add a return or a break (<br />) before entering full event content. If there is a longer event description, enter it in the Full Event field; otherwise, just paste the short description in the Full Event field.

14) Click save buton

15) Click descriptors button

16) In the Event Types section click the add button

17) In the popup window, in the Add Types to Event section, click a checkbox
      for event type (i.e. Academic: Lecture)

18) Click the add button and close Event Types popup window

19) Scroll to the Sites section and click the add button

20) In the Add Sites to Event section click the Site Collection drop down menu and select your campus

21) Click the filter button

22) Click the checkbox for the building your event is in

23) Click the add button and close the popup window

(skip the Sponsors section)

24) Scroll up and click the permissions button

25) Click the checkboxes for the following groups below:
            Earth Institute
            Earth Institute Event Approvers
            Earth Institute Event Authors

            Lamont-Doherty
            Lamont-Doherty Event Approvers
            Lamont-Doherty Event Authors

            Public/Everyone

26) Click the add group(s) button

27a) In the next window click Modify Event for the following people
            Earth Institute
            Earth Institute Event Approvers
            Earth Institute Event Authors

27b) Click Own Event for the following people
            Lamont-Doherty
            Lamont-Doherty Event Approvers
            Lamont-Doherty Event Authors

27c) Click View Event for the following people
            Public/Everyone

27d) Click save button and click OK in the alert

28) Scroll up and click publishing button

29) Select checkboxes for campuses you want to publish the event
      (i.e. Columbia University Events Calendar, Earth Institute Events Calendar,
      Lamont-Doherty Events Calendar)

30) Click the submit for approval button

31) Click OK in the alert window

(there is a bug in the program; so you'll have to reselect the Earth Institute Events Calendar checkbox and resubmit and Ok it)

32) Scroll to the top and click the View Event button

33) Also, view the event at this URL: http://www.ldeo.columbia.edu/ldeo/cal/sundial/

34) Click title link to see Full Description

35) If you find any problems, click the Edit Event button to revise input.

36) Finally, click the Logout button
