Abstract:

We document two incomplete skeletons of a new taxon of a large archosauriform from a lacustrine deposit in the upper Anton Chico Member of the Moenkopi Formation (early Anisian: Perovkan) in east-central New Mexico. This new reptile is the largest known from the Moenkopi Formation and, though incomplete, it belongs to at least the archosauriform clade based on the presence of osteoderms and the structure of the pelvis. The Moenkopi reptile is another example of the previously little known diversity of reptiles from the early Middle Triassic of North America.
