The trees pictured above is Siberian larch [Larix sibirica]. The genus Larix is distributed
circumpolar with many different species. Several species exist in North America. Despite
being a conifer, it sheds its needles each fall after turning a golden yellow.
In northeastern North America, this provides a second fall [pictured
above] after the infamous multi-colored fall.
