Correlation fields between the reconstructed annual PDO index and Pacific Sea-Surface Temperatures (SST) are shown in the upper plot. The lower plot is the instumental annual PDO index vs. SST. The reconstruction skillfully captures the same spatial patterns and correlation magnitudes as are found with the instumental PDO index.
