Proceedings of the
               23rd Seismic Research Review:
        Worldwide Monitoring of Nuclear Explosions

This hybrid CD contains a catalog of proceedings suitable for
Windows, Macintosh, and UNIX platforms. 

All of the papers in this catalog are in Portable Document 
Format (PDF).  You will need a PDF viewer such as Adobe 
Acrobat Reader to view these papers.  You should have the 
most current version of this software for your platform 
(5.0 for Windows and Macintosh, and 4.05 for UNIX) installed 
as either a helper application or plug-in for your browser in
order to view these documents efficiently using the HTML 
files (start with Cover.htm), which serve as navigation tools
through this catalog of proceedings.  For your convenience, 
we provide installers for most popular platforms with this CD
in the \install\acroread folder.  Use the AcroRead.htm file 
to select the appropriate installer, or go directly to 
Adobe's website to obtain the free software.  Older versions 
of Acrobat Reader, or other PDF viewers may not display some 
of the figures correctly.

This CD catalog contains two versions of the proceedings:  a 
print-optimized version as well as a screen-optimized 
version.  The print-optimized files have better resolution, 
but are larger in size; the screen-optimized files are 
generally smaller in size and display more quickly, but the
type and figures may not be as clear or crisp when printed.

In addition, the full set of PDF files sent to the print shop
are included on this CD in the HardCopy folder.  If you want
to print an entire section, or a volume, or the entire set of
proceedings, you can find all of the files you would need
in this folder, including the Acknowledgements, section
separators, cover pages and Table of Contents files for each 
of the volumes.

This set of proceedings is also available on-line at 
http://www.nemre.nn.doe.gov/review2001/.  If any errors are 
discovered after the CDs are burned and the files for the 
hard-copy version are sent to the publisher (about 
September 1, 2001), revisions will be posted to this website.

The proceedings on this CD have been cataloged so that 
Acrobat Reader with Search can be used to query the whole
set.  To use Acrobat Reader with Search:
1) Edit -> Search -> Select Indexes -> Add.  Browse the CD 
and select the Print folder and then the index.pdx file.
2) Edit -> Search -> Query.  Enter a word or phrase to search
for and click the Search button.  A list of titles that 
contain the word or phrase displays in the Search Results 
window.  Click on a title and either the View or Info button.  

A note about page numbers:  The page numbers on the papers
correspond to the printed hard-copy, which was published in 
two volumes:  Volume I contains all Seismic sections, and 
Volume II contains everything else.  The page numbers reset
in Volume II so the first paper in each volume begins on page
3 (pages 1 and 2 are the section title pages - front and 
back).  When citing papers from this set of proceedings, 
authors must identify the volume number as well, as the page 
numbers alone are not sufficient.
