paleoceanography, paleoclimatology, proxy development

My current work focuses on reconstructing major shifts in earth's carbon cycle in the geologic past. To do this, we utilize and work to further develop the B/Ca proxy in planktic and benthic foraminifera. My projects to date have included: calibration of the B/Ca proxy in planktic foraminifers under Paleogene seawater chemistry, reconstruction of deep Atlantic carbonate chemistry in the last million years, and investigation of the effects of hydrothermal activity on the chemistry of foraminifers.
