The common fire worm, Eurythoe complanata
|
The Phylum Anneelida makes up the true worms, which are segmented internaly
as well as externally. Two examples are shown here. The upper example is
the polychaete Eurythoe complanata or common fireworm. These can
bite and some people have had serious infections develop. |

The fan worm, Bispira rugosa
|
To the left is another polychaet, this one live by sieving detritus and
ver small organisms from the water. It is the panamic fanworm, Bispira
rugosa. Its segmentation is not at all obvious because the body of the
animal lives in a tube. |
