[Journal Entry for July 30, 2011] Early in the morning, while visiting my sister, I sat in the sun by Fort Greene Park and watched the boats in the harbor. Fort Green is a small, half-circle shaped park that juts out into the bay, just south of Claiborne Pell Bridge. At first the trees and lawn of the park were entirely in shadow, while the harbor was brightly lit. I watched shadows shorten as the sun rose. Later, my sister I walked around the neighborhood, admiring people's gardens and the old wood frame houses of the town, many with historical plaques on their sides. The oldest that I noticed was 1705; no doubt other unvisited by me are olderr still.
