Earned B.S. with majors in Physics and Geology.
1978-1984 Graduate student in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology and earned a Ph.D. in Geophysics. Thesis title: "Small-scale Convection and the Evolution of the Lithosphere."
