The figure shows the cumulative number of of earthquakes in the Global CMT catalog since 1976. The contribution of earthquakes greater than M=6.5 is is in yellow; the contribution of earthquakes 5.36 earthquakes were analyzed. Starting in 2004, earthquakes as small as M=5.0 are analyzed and included in the catalog.
