Topic:
Menu colors look washed out.
Description:
SYMPTOM: Mapview canvas colors for background, foreground, buttons,
shadows and text are not as expected. Color looks washed out
such as white on yellow, white on gray, etc. The colors should
be gray with black letters.
CAUSE: In IESX 10.0, MapView creates its own private color map when it
starts up. This is being done in a effort to make MapView more
closely resemble other Motif applications. This is done
regardless of how the user has set the environment variable
IESX_PRIVATE_CMAP. MapView looks at the colors being set by the
environment and tries to replicate them. Using the default
files, MapView on the SGI does a good job of replicating these
colors. Mapview on Sunos/Solaris platforms may flash on screen
0, especially if Seis%D or basemap is on screen 0 also. If
MapView is on screen 1, the flashing is less of a problem but
the Motif border will always be off color. The effects you will
get by using different colors will be varied. The colors you get
depend on the colors being used. It could be a minor change from
a black to dark gray, or a major change from light gray to a
bright blue, or a near white on white. Colors have no effect on
the data.
Solution:
RESOLUTION: The users of MapView must use the colors provided in the user
setup files (.Xdefaults) and resource file (IESX) that are
supplied with IESX 10p0.
